I'd grown up in Lochinver and had made murals back in the early 90s, but only using emulsion on flat interior walls, so it was an interesting challenge when the Lochinver Book Shop asked me to create a mural on their gable end. I created the design using characters from my Seordag Stories book and local Assynt stories. Brother Duncan set up the scaffolding and I started on Wed 4th Sept 2024. The ordered paint didn't arrive so I used what acrylic I had brought up and my dad went to Ullapool and collected some from an artist friend when I ran out by Thursday. Partner Jamie, wee sis Kirsteen and pal Dawn all helped to colour in. Finished the mural on Saturday 7th Sept just after the tractor run TrA8tors EUAnite. Lucky to have lots of help and brilliant weather.
